“Charles Villiers Stanford – and the Dublin he never left behind!”

In the centenary year of the death of Charles Villiers Stanford, Dean Morton explores the early life and social context of arguably the most gifted composer to come out of Ireland.

With the help of Stanford’s own writings, and the oral tradition which forms a precious part of our Irish heritage, Dr Morton’s talk will focus on Stanford’s engagement with Dublin’s two Anglican cathedrals, the influence of Irish folk music in some of his compositions, and his superb contribution to Anglican church music.

Speaker: The Very Revd Dr William Morton (Dean & Ordinary)
