The Palmyra-Macedon Select Choir is an auditioned group of dedicated musicians in grades 10 through 12, recognized for their advanced musicality and passion for vocal performance. With a history spanning over three decades, the choir has established itself as a cornerstone of the Palmyra-Macedon community, bringing both classical and modern repertoire to life through their impressive talent and commitment.
Each year, the Select Choir captivates audiences with a variety of performances that highlight their musical versatility and dedication. Their annual Madrigal performance, now in its 31st year, has become a beloved December tradition, inviting the community to experience Renaissance music in an authentic, festive setting. Beyond the Madrigal, the choir engages audiences through their spring recital, participation in Nazareth College’s Day of Voice, and their regular concerts, each event showcasing the students’ impressive vocal range and skill.
Throughout the choir’s history, members have had the honor of performing at prestigious venues, including the legendary Carnegie Hall. Their talents have also taken them beyond U.S. borders, with international tours to Italy, Greece, and Germany broadening their artistic horizons and allowing them to share their music on a global stage. In April 2024, they look forward to adding Ireland to their list of international destinations, marking another milestone in their journey.
A recent highlight for the choir was their performance of the National Anthem at a Cleveland Guardians game on May 3, 2024, a proud moment that underscored their commitment to excellence and community engagement. Throughout the year, they bring their music to local audiences as well, performing at various events and hosting the annual Madrigal dinner, a cherished gathering that blends music, tradition, and community spirit.
The members of the Palmyra-Macedon Select Choir are more than just talented singers; they are passionate young musicians eager to share their voices with audiences near and far, contributing to the choir’s legacy and inspiring future generations.
