Saint Patrick’s Cathedral is happy to announce that applications have opened for our Community Grants Scheme 2016.
Each year Saint Patrick’s Cathedral, the National Cathedral of the Church of Ireland, distributes the money raised through offertories, collections and candle offerings to charities and community groups working to respond to various needs within the community.
The Cathedral plans to award a number of grants up to a maximum of €5,000. This year the Cathedral is inviting applications from charities and community organisations working broadly in the field of mental health.
“The money for charitable donations is raised at the Cathedral through gifts by visitors, the offertory collections and the candle offerings. We simply facilitate the distribution of the goodwill of others, and we gratefully acknowledge their generosity,” says Dr Eimhin Walsh, who coordinates the Grant Scheme. “We hope that suitable organisations will consider applying to us for assistance.”
Last year the scheme, which is in its second year, made 44 grants to organisations working all over the island of Ireland. While this year’s scheme is particularly focused on mental health, organisations working in other fields with exciting projects that are in need of support are welcome to apply. Potential applicants can contact Eimhin Walsh at community@stpatrickscathedral.ie or telephone 01 – 453 9472. The last date for receipt of applications is Thursday, 1 September 2016.
