While Saint Patrick’s Cathedral had to close its doors to worshippers and visitors during the enforced lockdown due to the Covid-19 virus, the daily life of our ancient church has continued through use of live-streaming choral evensong and lunchtime organ recitals. This has been deeply appreciated by a large number of listeners during these stressful times, and the transmission of services and musical events in this way will assume similar focus into the future as the Church emerges from the grip of this pandemic.
The quality of sound available on live stream currently does not do justice to the excellence in standard of the organ and choral tradition offered in Saint Patrick’s. This is precisely what is behind the decision to make the upgrading of the ‘live stream’ the subject of the Dean’s Gift Day Appeal 2020.
Our aim is to raise in the region of €50,000 so that the quality of the system will be commensurate with what Saint Patrick’s requires and deserves.Your support will be deeply appreciated in enhancing the experience of worship for innumerable viewers and listeners.
We hope you will join us on Saturday 27 June to help us fund the new system. Due to the restrictions of the current time, it is not be possible to host Gift Day in the traditional manner in the Cathedral. Instead you can join us on our Facebook page on the day.
Contributions can also be made via the website at www.stpatrickscathedral.ie/donate. If you prefer to make a donation by cheque, please forward it to the cathedral office, made payable to ‘Saint Patrick’s Cathedral.
