Ann-Maria Walsh studied English at University College Dublin and was awarded her PhD in 2017. Her research interests include early modern women’s letters and autobiographical writings, and Irish and British history of that period. Her monograph, The Daughters of the First Earl of Cork: Writing Family, Faith, Politics and Place was published by Four Courts Press in 2020. Ann-Maria also has essays published in a number of different collections including Women’s Life Writing and Early Modern Ireland (2019) edited by Julie Eckerle and Naomi McAreavey, and the Royal Irish Academy’s Sisters (2022), which was edited by Mary O’Dowd and Siobhán Fitzpatrick. In March 2023, Ann-Maria contributed biographies on three of the Boyle women to the Dictionary of Irish Biography. Ann-Maria is currently an adjunct lecturer in the School of History at University College Dublin where she is preparing an edition of the Boyle women’s letters for publication with the Irish Manuscripts Commission.
