The beautiful deanery of Saint Patrick’s Cathedral contains some thirty important portraits of deans and other eminent churchmen, dating from the eighteenth century up to the present time. The most famous is, of course, the Bindon portrait of Dean Swift, in its magnificent frame, but others, not so well-known, are fine examples of the art of portraiture by equally famous artists. This virtual illustrated tour of the building will highlight the lives of these prominent sitters and of the artists who portrayed them.
Speakers: Albert Fenton (Cathedral Historian & Chairman of the Friends)
