Lunchtime Recital: Frideswide Voices

  • 1.00pm
  • Concert included in general admission
Established in 2014, Frideswide Voices was founded as an independent choir to promote opportunities for girls aged between 7 and 14 to sing within the liturgy in Oxford college chapels. Since 2019, the choir has been the girls’ treble line at Christ Church Cathedral Oxford, as part of the historic choral foundation dating back to Cardinal Wolsey’s era. The choristers, drawn from schools right across Oxfordshire, come to the Cathedral three times a week to rehearse, study and sing services in the Cathedral with the adult team of Lay Clerks. They also maintain a busy programme of concerts and tours in Oxford and further afield.

This afternoon’s recital showcases some of the choristers’ favourite repertoire, from folksongs by Vaughan Williams and Benjamin Britten, to songs of nature and nurture by Charles Wood and Eleanor Daley.
