www.stpatrickscathedral.ie was named website of the year on Friday at the annual Netvisionary awards. The Cathedral’s new website was launched on the 1st of June 2016. It was designed by The Friday Digital Agency in partnership with our own in house team comprised of: Andrew Smith (Education Officer), Clarissa Delap (Marketing and Events Officer) and Ciara Ní Cheallacháin (Education Assistant).
The new website has received lots of very positive feedback since its launch and staff have experienced a massive upturn in the number of bookings and general activity coming from the Cathedral’s online presence. However, the award on Friday evening was the first official recognition of the success of the website.
The development of the Cathedral’s new website began in early 2015 when Fáilte Ireland agreed to support an audit of the Cathedral’s online presence and particularly its website. Later that year Fáilte Ireland once again supported the Cathedral by providing the services of a “Digital Mentor” to advise on the development of a new site. The Friday Digital Agency were commissioned in early 2016 to create the Cathedral’s new website and 6 months later it went live.
The Cathedral Administrator Gavan Woods along with Dave Jackson and Graham Carroll from The Friday Agency collected the prestigious award on Friday evening at the awards event in the RDS. Speaking about the award, Gavan Woods said, “I would like to thank the IIA (Irish Internet Association) for this award. Many factors contributed to delivering our new website, not least the enthusiasm, commitment and professionalism of the team drawn from the Cathedral staff who worked so effectively with Friday to ensure something beyond our expectations was created.”
