Saint Patrick’s Cathedral is one of Ireland’s most iconic and important buildings. As the National Cathedral of the Church of Ireland it has an all island remit. The Cathedral Board, under the leadership of the Dean, view the conservation of our ancient Cathedral and associated structures as core to the advancement of our charitable purposes which include the provision of choral worship and the service of the wider community through our education and outreach initiatives.
The Board wishes to appoint to the post of Cathedral Architect which will shortly become vacant. The Cathedral Architect is responsible for inspecting and supervising all work on the fabric of the building which may be approved by the Board. In addition to this the Cathedral architect is central to the development and delivery of improvements to our facilities and visitor services in partnership with the Cathedral staff and fabric committee. We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Grade 1 conservation architect or equivalent with a minimum of 10 years’ experience of working with built heritage projects of scale.
It is intended that the appointment will be for an initial period of 5 years. There will be a requirement to attend 9 monthly meetings of the fabric committee per year in addition to supervision of ongoing projects as required.
